Mad Men Creator Matthew Weiner Returns to Park

Matthew Weiner, the creator of Mad Men — a TV series about a fictional advertising agency in NYC — stopped by campus this week to sit for an interview with the Washington Post. Weiner attended Park’s Lower School through fourth grade until his family moved to Los Angeles.

In town for an upcoming project, Weiner chose our Meyerhoff Theater as his interview spot because he has fond memories of his time here as a student. Weiner is making his playwriting debut with John Wilkes Booth: One Night Only!, running from May 15 to June 15 at Baltimore Center Stage.

After his conversation with the Washington Post, Weiner met with our Postscript Editors-in-Chief for an article in the next issue.

Matthew Weiner is a nine-time Emmy Award winner and five-time WGA Award-winning storyteller in television, film, and literature. Among his range of credits are two of television’s most successful and critically lauded shows: creator, executive producer, writer, and director on Mad Men, which was distinguished with the Peabody Award, and executive producer for The Sopranos. Weiner was also the creator, executive producer, writer, and director of the original contemporary anthology series, The Romanoffs, set in seven countries around the globe.
