Upper School Latinx Club Builds Ofrenda to Honor Día de los Muertos
This week, the Upper School Latinx Club came together to create an ofrenda in honor of Día de los Muertos. Park parent Yesenia Mejía and two of her friends and colleagues visited to teach students how to build and arrange each element of the ofrenda. Club members also visited the beautiful ofrenda in Lower School Spanish teacher Juanita Grillo’s classroom.
Día de los Muertos is a cherished tradition celebrated in Mexico and many other Latin American countries. It is a day to honor and celebrate departed loved ones, who return each year to be with their families for as long as they are remembered. At Park, students from all divisions were welcome to visit the ofrendas to learn more or to add photos and mementos of their own.
