Park Welcomes Playwright Ken Greller ’10 as 2024 Peter Baida ’68 Writer-in-Residence
Yesterday, Park welcomed Ken Greller, a member of Park School’s Class of 2010, to campus as our 2024 Peter Baida ’68 Writer-in-Residence. A playwright, Ken wrote for all three seasons of AppleTV+’s Peabody-award winning Dickinson, starring Hailee Steinfeld and created by Alena Smith.
Ken addressed the Upper School in the morning, sharing experiences as a student at Park, what inspired him to become a playwright, and his path to Hollywood. After assembly, he held two seminars and met with students at lunch. In his first seminar, Ken spoke about theatricality and how to tell your story, while the second seminar discussed turning an idea into a script, and the ins and outs of selling a TV show in Hollywood.
His episode of Dickinson, “This is My Letter to the World”, co-written with R. Eric Thomas, Park School Class of 1999, directed by Rachael Holder, and guest starring Billy Eichner as Walt Whitman, was named one of the Best Episodes of Television in 2021 by IndieWire.
In 2022, Ken developed a series for Amazon and served as a writer/producer in a mini-room for Apple TV+. He’s currently developing a feature with Killer Films.
As a playwright, Ken has been a member of Clubbed Thumb’s early career writers group and IAMA Theatre Company’s Under 30 Playwrights Lab. He has held fellowships from the Sundance Theater Institute and MacDowell. He is an alumnus of the The 24 Plays: Nationals and has regularly participated in their Viral Monologues, where he’s written short pieces for Denis O’Hare, Sophie Zucker, and Juliana Canfield.
