Park School was honored at the Baltimore City Public Schools 2013 Partner Appreciation Breakfast on May 7 for its partnership with the Tench Tilghman School. For months, Park students collaborated with the City students, creating a community garden and constructing/stocking a school store. Former School Superintendent Dr. Andres Alonso presented the award to sophomores Margo Kahn, Sophia Marion, and Natalie Rudin, who represented Park.

Among the 15 honorees, Park was the only secondary school recognized. Other “Outstanding Partners” included Church of the Redeemer, Constellation Energy/Exelon, Maryland Food Bank, Successful Teaching Solutions, and the University of Baltimore.

The citation reads in part:

The Park School, in collaboration with Living Classrooms, purchased a small piece of land and donated it to the school to create a community garden in the neighborhood where Tench Tilghman Elem./Middle School students reside. The Park School also partnered with Tench Tilghman to help build a school store in the recreation center. Students and parents from The Park School spent six Saturdays shopping and building the store – all in support of the school’s PBIS [positive behavioral intervention and supports] program. In December, The Park School donated 300 items for the Holiday Super School Store. The students of the Park School personally shopped for the items and then volunteered to help the students of Tench Tilghman wrap gifts.
