Marshall Gordon’s "Three-Dimensional Perspective" to be Published by Springer International

Marshall Gordon, a member of the Upper School math faculty since 1985, has received a book contract from Springer International Publishing to publish his manuscript Enabling Students in Mathematics – A Three-Dimensional Perspective on Teaching Mathematics in Grades 6-12.

Recently, Marshall’s article “The Mathematics of Fountain Design” was included in the 2014 volume of The Best Writing on Mathematics, by the Princeton University Press. The annual publication “brings together the year’s finest mathematics writing from around the world.”

In the article, Marshall details the activities he developed for teaching eleventh graders the engineering applications of the mathematical study of quadratic quantities and relates the response these activities elicited from the students, stressing that his “multiple-centered” instruction reaches all students according to their levels of interest.

Congratulations – and thank you – to Marshall for his ever-increasing body of published work!
