Karla Villa
First Grade HomeroomKarla is a bilingüal first grade homeroom teacher and literacy and curriculum specialist whose work is rooted in a deep commitment to the social, emotional, and academic growth of every child. She believes that a rich, responsive classroom environment — one that honors each student’s unique strengths and needs — is the foundation for meaningful and lasting learning.
When she is not at work, she is passionate about staying at the forefront of educational research; particularly in the areas of inquiry-based learning and the strands of reading comprehension and vocabulary acquisition.
Prior to joining Park, Karla taught early childhood education at Greenspring Montessori in Baltimore, supporting the dual-language mission of the school by delivering lessons in English and Spanish. Before that, she taught Pre-K and Kindergarten at Bryn Mawr Little School.
Karla holds a B.A. in Graphic Design from Universidad Latinoamericana in Mexico, an M.Ed. from Goucher College with a focus in Literacy Content and Reading Strategies, and a Montessori Guide Certification from Princeton Center for Teacher Education. She is currently pursuing her Orton Gillingham certification to continue supporting the literacy journey of all individuals through a multisensorial framework.
