Emily Fisher

Middle and Upper School Librarian

Emily is a Middle and Upper school librarian. She teaches library class to all sixth graders, mentors eighth graders as part of Advoc8, and partners with Middle and Upper school teachers across a variety of subjects to support research and information literacy education into class projects.

She also runs Middle School book club, helps students discover books, manages online research databases, and looks for ways to make the Park library inviting and accessible.

Prior to coming to Park, Emily was a librarian at Garrison Forest School. Before that, she worked in the field of environmental engineering, focusing on the economics and environmental impact of energy systems.

Emily holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Brown University, an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, and an M.L.I.S. with a specialization on school libraries from University of Maryland, College Park. She has published in academic journals and presented at conferences. As part of her dissertation, Emily wrote about an innovative way to operate high voltage transmission networks — publications that came out of that work have been cited over a thousand times.
