Beatrice Kennison
Third Grade HomeroomBeatrice is a third grade homeroom teacher. In addition to academic instruction, she is deeply committed to social-emotional learning. “I value helping students develop the tools they need to navigate challenges, build relationships, and advocate for themselves.”
Beatrice began her teaching journey while in college, working in an early childhood daycare outside of Philadelphia. After college, she taught at Kiddie Academy of Ellicott City, and then spent five years as a 2nd Grade teacher at Next Generation School, an independent school in Champaign, Ill. Beatrice co-chaired the math curriculum review committee while working there, and she coached elementary and middle school archery for four years through the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP).
“Math has always been my favorite subject. One of my favorite parts of teaching is helping students see themselves as capable mathematicians. My goal is to foster confidence, curiosity, and a lasting enthusiasm for math.”
Beatrice holds a B.A. in Sociology and a Minor in Education from Haverford College, and earned her Elementary Education Teaching License for Grades 1-6 from a post-baccalaureate teacher licensure program at Eastern Illinois University.
“As a Baltimore native, I am a huge Ravens fan. I attended Baltimore School for the Arts, where I studied oboe, and I still enjoy playing in my free time. Outside of school, I love spending time outdoors, especially hiking, rollerblading, and canoeing.”
