Martine Foster

Kindergarten Homeroom

As a Kindergarten homeroom teacher, Martine guides students through hands-on learning, stories, and play. “Each day, I help children grow in curiosity, confidence, and kindness as we explore new ideas and build a supportive classroom community together. I love finding ways to make learning engaging and meaningful for every child.”

Martine has more than 20 years of experience teaching young children from Preschool through third grade, and is passionate about nurturing their social-emotional growth, curiosity, and love of learning. Most recently, Martine taught Preschool and first grade at Sandy Spring Friends School. She first became interested in education through her own experiences as a student, inspired by her English as a Second Language teacher, who showed her that every child can succeed with the right support.

“I am always exploring ways to make learning exciting and meaningful, and I am committed to creating inclusive environments that celebrate diversity and empower every child to thrive.”

Martine holds a B.S. in Human Services with a minor in Education from St. John’s University in Queens, NY. She has also completed professional certifications and training in Orton-Gillingham, Responsive Classroom, Literacy/Phonemic Awareness, and credit courses at Anne Arundel College in Methods of Reading Instruction and Instructional Teamwork.

“Outside of teaching, I enjoy going on long walks, family time and traveling the world, which inspires me to bring curiosity and new perspectives into the classroom.”
