January 2024 Civil Rights Trip
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Baltimore Civil Rights Trip, an annual week-long journey that brings together students from Park School and Baltimore City College High School, as well as participants from other Baltimore area schools, to travel through the American south to visit, study, and engage with people and places that were significant in the modern Civil Rights Movement. From Greensboro, NC, to Memphis, TN, these young activists learn about the events that ignited the movement and the visionaries who led the charge.
While inclement weather shortened January’s trip, students were still able to visit the lunch counter that was made famous by the A&T Four, to attend a church service delivered by Reverend Senator Raphael Warnock at the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church, and to tour the campus of Morehouse College, Dr. King’s alma mater.
