Brownie Recognized by the American Scholastic Press Association
Congratulations to the editors, staff, and advisor of the 2017 Brownie, Park’s K-12 yearbook, on receiving a second place honor from the American Scholastic Press Association (ASPA)!
Since the first yearbook in 1914, the Brownie has documented every school year at Park with photographs, drawings, and essays. An extra-curricular activity, students spend hours after school and during weekends compiling content and designing layouts, and are responsible for the overall look and feel of the book.
“Our Brownie team was (and is) made up of students who all bring tremendous creativity, passion, and talent; their dedication is what always makes the work so enjoyable and definitely was the source of the quality of the 2017 book,” senior Jack Kalvar, Brownie co-editor-in-chief said. “We worked together to push past typical layouts and standard content to create an original book that is reflective of all that happened last year. It made all the long hours worth it, and I’m so glad it paid off!”
“Our 2017 editors taught us a lot about dedication and attention to detail, but also how to be adventurous with layouts and have fun with it,” senior Catherine Robbins, Brownie co-editor-in-chief said. “With 13 committed club members, and our fearless leader Janna Rice [faculty advisor], we created a 300-page collection of memories, which we had the pleasure of sharing with the rest of the community.”
