Rhys Joseph
Upper School Visual ArtsRhys is a visual arts teacher in Upper School, spending most of his day in the 3-D studio teaching electives including Ceramics, 21st Century Maker Skills, Woodworking, Metal Fabrication and Manipulation, and Surface Design.
His broad skill set includes experience in printmaking, finish carpentry, welding and metal fabrication, wood and stone carving, ceramics, mold making and casting, and plaster fabrication.
When he’s not in the studio, Rhys attends and advises Black Male Forum.
Rhys is a graduate of Howard University, where he received a B.F.A. in Sculpture, and earned an M.F.A. in General Fine Arts at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Prior to coming to Park, he taught art at Meridian Public Charter School, a PreK-8 school in D.C., and facilitated the Professional Learning Community there. His teaching experience includes work at both Coppin State University and The Art Institute of Washington, where he taught foundation classes. He is the parent of a Park student in the Class of 2029.
