Park Welcomes Four Visiting Artists this Fall, Including 2025 Diana Lee Fox ’75 Resident Artist Kim Beck
Over the past few weeks, Park has welcomed four artists to campus to share about their work currently on display in the Fall Exhibition, Human/Nature — including our 2025 Diana Lee Fox ’75 Resident Artist, Kim Beck.
Kim Beck, Matthew McConville, Ben Salb, and Renee van der Stelt spoke with students of all ages about their different artistic processes and inspiration. As Resident Artist, Kim gave an assembly to the Upper School about her work as a multidisciplinary artist, which “highlights the everydayness of disaster.” She shares that she finds “beauty and absurdity in moments like cracked pavement and weeds, which reveal deeper ecological issues.” Kim led a flag-making art workshop with Upper School students where they explored Park’s campus for materials to create cyanotypes.
All work, including Park student contributions, can be found on display across Park’s galleries until December 6th. Thank you to everyone who has made this such a great show and learning experience!
Matthew McConville is a painter whose work titled “Flowers for the Anthropocene” shows a world where plant and other DNA might mix to create fantastical arrangements. Renee van der Stelt focuses on contemporary drawing, and her work examines ideas around the complexities of human relationships towards the natural environment and mapping space. Ben Salb is a macro photographer who creates high magnification portraits of living spiders and bugs.
