New Partnership Launches Between Park School and The Peabody Institute

Category:

Last spring, Park was thrilled to announce a new partnership with The Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, providing additional dance and music classes to both the Park School and greater Baltimore communities, beginning in the fall of 2024.

Peabody has been steadily creating satellite partnerships throughout Baltimore to make their programming more accessible, and Park is fortunate and excited to host classes this year. Both institutions share a progressive approach to arts education that empowers students to develop agency and voice on their educational journeys.

Peabodyā€™s Early Childhood music classes offer Saturday morning opportunities for children ages 17 months to five years old. With four distinct classes running from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. held in Parkā€™s Lower School classrooms, members of the larger Baltimore community have had opportunities to experience Park in new and exciting ways.

The after-school Preparatory Dance program offers a variety of classes taught by Peabody instructors in Parkā€™s dance studio on Monday and Wednesday afternoons, running from 3:30 to almost 9 p.m. Two of these classes ā€” Intro to Dance ā€” are reserved exclusively for Park School students. All other classes are open to the public, with ages ranging from nine years old through adults and teens 16+.

ā€œFor us here at Park, itā€™s been great to bring together two institutions that are champions of the arts in the Baltimore area. The way Peabody thinks about arts programming, and finding ways to get youth from a very early age plugged into music and dance, syncs with our arts mission at Park. Itā€™s been neat to join our two organizations together. We look forward to expanding our partnership opportunities down the road.ā€ ā€“Nate Edmunds, Director of Auxiliary Programming
