Bringing Bikes to CAmp:
Learn to Ride (Level 1, Ages 4-7)
During the first two days of camp, please do not send your child’s bike. Campers will begin on our specially fitted balance and training bikes to build confidence and foundational skills. Starting on Day 3, we invite campers to bring their own bikes so we can support a smooth transition to independent riding.
Learn to Ride 2 (Level 2, Ages 6-9)
For this level, we ask that campers bring their own bikes in good working order so they can practice and advance their skills on the equipment they use at home. If your child does not have a bike available, we have a limited number of bikes that can be borrowed by request. To reserve one, please email us with your camper’s height so we can ensure a proper fit.
Register here through CampBrain.
Additional Information for Learn to Ride Partner Camps
Bike Equipment/Information: Campers will be provided with a bike for use for the full week of Learn to Ride camp. Campers must bring their own well-fitting bike helmet from home each day. Campers should wear or bring athletic clothing, sneakers, and socks for bike camp each day. Please: no skirts, dresses, crocs, sandals, or overly loose/baggy clothing that can be a hazard on the bike. We strongly encourage parents to consider sending a gel bike seat cover or padded bike shorts, as campers often experience some sensitivity and discomfort getting used to the bike seat.
Required for Learn to Ride Camp:
- Sneakers and socks
- Well-fitting bike helmet
- Athletic clothing (t-shirts, leggings, or shorts)
- Gel seat cover or padded bike shorts (recommended)
- Sunglasses and bike gloves (encouraged)
Note that we don’t encourage knee or elbow pads, which we find to be too hot, cumbersome, and a distraction for campers. Our balance-based method of teaching cuts down on falls, but campers wanting protection for knees and elbows will be better served in leggings and/or a long-sleeved sun shirt.
If you have a bike at home that you would like your child to transition to riding, you may drop that bike during morning drop off on Thursday or Friday of camp. Bikes must be in good working order, with tires inflated and training wheels removed.
If you have questions about bike sizing or may be interested in purchasing the high quality woom bikes used at camp, please contact Allie Dubit, Bike Sales Manager for PedalPower Kids, [email protected] or 43.914.2277 x 700.
Important Notes for Learn to Ride to Camp:
Once a camper starts Learn to Ride camp, it’s imperative that they no longer ride on training wheels at home or outside of camp. Because we use a balance-based approach to learning to ride that starts with removing pedals and mastering gliding, going back to using training wheels can undo progress and confuse the body. If your camper is wanting to practice at home before they are able to pedal independently, then we encourage practicing balancing and gliding (with pedals removed if needed).
If you need to reach someone on Team PedalPower Kids, the quickest way to get in touch with us is to email [email protected] or call our main number 443.914.2277. Please reference “Park School Camp” so that your message can be directed accordingly.
Additional Information for Learn to 2 Ride Partner Camps
Bike Equipment/Information: Learn to Ride 2 campers need to bring their own well-fitting bike in good working order, ready to go-fully inflated tires, working brakes, etc. We prefer Learn to Ride 2 campers to have bikes with handbrakes and gears (if age appropriate). If you have questions about your child’s bike size or may be interested in purchasing a new woom bike from PedalPower Kids, don’t hesitate to reach out to Allie Dubit, Bike Sales Manager for PedalPower Kids – [email protected] or 443.914.2277 x 700. We will have our woom bikes available for rent as well if you do not have an appropriate bike for your camper — cost is $75 for the week and the bike can be reserved by contacting [email protected].

What’s the day like?
- In the morning: Campers in the Learn to Ride track begin with PedalPower Kids, while those in the Learn to Ride 2 track begin with Park Camps.
- Lunch is a shared community time — all campers together.
- In the afternoon: The tracks switch — the Learn to Ride campers transition to Park Camps’ programming, while the Learn to Ride 2 campers head to PedalPower Kids for more on-bike skill building.
- Note: For the week of June 9-12, when only Learn to Ride is available, the group will be split in half. One group will start with PedalPower Kids while the other begins with Park Camps, and then the groups will flip after lunch.
When your child is with PedalPower Kids,
they’ll…
- Receive high-quality, individualized instruction in bike riding and bike safety, rooted in the mission: to help every kid feel Super Confident, Super Safe, and Super Happy on their bike.
- Experience a supportive learning environment where they build essential skills (balance, pedaling, braking, maneuvering) and gain a sense of independence, fun and exploration on two wheels.
- Be part of a program that believes bikes change lives — and wants to see more kids riding for fun, freedom, and community connection.
When your child is with Park Camps,
they’ll …
- Enjoy a vibrant camp environment on a 100-acre wooded campus, offering arts & crafts, board games, physical education, and swimming.
- Be part of a community built on positive expectations, intellectual inquiry, collaboration, respect for differences, and nurturing curiosity and growth.
- Have fun, make friends, explore outdoors (and indoors as needed) and benefit from the care of dedicated counselors who each camper knows by name.
Why this partnership makes sense:
- Shared purpose: Both organizations believe strongly in building confidence, fostering growth and engaging children in meaningful, fun experiences. PedalPower Kids builds confidence and independence through cycling; Park Camps nurtures curiosity, creativity and community through varied camp experiences. Together, they combine movement, skill-building and camp-style enrichment.
- Balanced day: Kids get the best of both worlds — the physical confidence, freedom, and skills of bike riding, plus the creative, social and recreational adventures of a camp environment.
- Seamless logistics: Families will follow the standard Park Camps drop-off and pick-up procedures, with extended care available for convenience. The transition between the two programs is built into the day, making the full-day routine smooth and straightforward.
- Flexibility and safety built-in: In case of inclement weather, the schedule is adjusted to ensure every camper gets ample bike time, and indoor facilities (such as the Blaustein Gyms) are available if outdoor riding isn’t possible.
Whether your child is just beginning to ride or looking to level up their bike skills — and wants a camp experience full of creativity, movement and connection — this hybrid program brings together the best of both worlds.
We invite you to register for this new, full-day offering that merges PedalPower Kids’ expert bike instruction with Park Camps’ rich camp-style programming.
