Sarah Howell

Upper School Science

Sarah teaches Upper School science, focusing on Core 10 classes as well as electives, including Ecology, Extinctions, and Intro to GIS. “I love getting students excited about science and learning about how the world and the natural environment works and is constantly changing.”

Sarah is also one of the Upper School Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion coordinators.

As a long-time educator, Sarah has taught science, sustainability, climate change, biology, and more to both Middle and Upper School students. She has worked for non-profits and schools in the U.S. and abroad. 

Sarah received her B.A. in Biology and M.A.T. in Secondary Science Education, both from the University of Virginia, and her M.A. in Global Environmental Policy from American University. 

“I love thinking and learning about how we can use and model after nature’s systems to build a more environmentally sustainable world. I also enjoy strength training and coaching CrossFit, and competing in the occasional strongwoman competition.”
