Heather Freas-Kostic

Middle School Language Arts Chair

Heather teaches language arts in the Middle School, and chairs the department.

As a Middle School language arts teacher, she sees her role as fostering curiosity about how language, communication, and expression work in our lives and in our world. As department chair, she supports language arts teachers and represents the Middle School.

Heather leads and chaperones Middle School trips. She serves on the Middle School DEI Inclusion Team. She was a co-presenter at the Common Ground Maryland Conference on Advoc8, a Middle School activism initiative.

Before coming to Park, Heather taught high school in Baltimore County for seven years before staying home with her young children. After returning to the classroom as a Middle School teacher, she “found an age of student that fascinates and challenges me. Every day, learning with students fills me up and leads to growth.”

Heather is the parent of two Park students in the Classes of 2025 and 2028. She loves camping, paddling, road trips, singing, and practicing and teaching yoga.

Heather has a B.A. in Speech Pathology and Spanish from James Madison University, and an M.Ed. and Peacebuilding certificate from Eastern Mennonite University.
