Lower School ScienceEric teaches science to third through fifth grade students in Lower School through a blend of scientific inquiry and experiential learning. He also leads the third and fourth grade robotics club in the fall and winter. “I like blending environmental justice content into my class curriculum to show students that science does not exist in a vacuum, and that a keen understanding of science can also help understand certain social justice issues.”
Eric started his career in education as a naturalist teaching at residential outdoor education programs on the Central Coast of California and in Central Texas. From there, he participated in the New Teacher Institute at the Town School for Boys in San Francisco, California, which is a two-year program designed to build teaching skills in independent school settings. At both Calvert and Sidwell Friends, Eric was involved with Middle School robotics, and he coached football, basketball, and baseball.
Eric holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies from University of California, Santa Cruz and an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction for Social Justice from Loyola University Maryland.
