Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Fellow

As the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Fellow, Defne works in partnership with the Director of DEI to provide thoughtful and robust Pre-K–12 student programming with respect to equity and inclusion, as well as contribute to other projects and programming.

A recent graduate of Barnard College with a B.A. in Education Studies, Defne was the Head Student Representative in the Admission Office and was a Teaching & Speaking Fellow in the Speaking Center. Defne was also a Research Assistant in the Education Department, focusing on supporting Black students in STEM, and she wrote for the student newspaper. Prior to Barnard, Defne gave back to the middle school enrichment program she participated in, Dawson College Bound. She created and taught curriculum for HS Prep and Current Events/Civic Engagement courses for 6th and 7th Graders enrolled in the program.
