Dave Lowther

Middle School Math Chair

Dave teaches math in Middle School and chairs the department.

Dave started out teaching geometry and philosophy for two years at the Oakwood School in Poughkeepsie New York, and then spent several years as a framing and trim carpenter, followed by four years of guiding tours of the rainforest in Costa Rica.  

Dave has served on the Admission Committee and is a faculty advisor to the Dungeons and Dragons club, and the 3-D Printer club. He has presented at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Conference half a dozen times and also at AIMS. 

Dave earned a B.A. from St. John’s College in Annapolis.

“I’m very passionate about protecting the rainforest in Costa Rica where I grew up. Other personal interests include playing guitar and singing, canoeing, camping, board games, and spending time with my family.”
