Chris Peterson

Lower, Middle, and Upper School Music and Director of After-School Music

Chris teaches music in all three divisions and runs the after school music program.

Classes include Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten music, fourth and fifth grade jazz band, guitar and ukulele in Middle School and Upper School, 8th Grade Modern Music Band, and improvisation for instrumentalists in Upper School. As Director of After School Music, Chris coordinates lessons for individual students.

Chris is experienced in playing guitar, tenor banjo, and mandola. He plays with The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Hotel Paradise Orchestra, and the Baltimore Mandolin Orchestra. After college, he worked as a music copyist for the film music industry (The Simpsons, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, among others).  

In 2020, Chris presented “The Process Based Jazz Program” at the Jazz Education Network with Park colleagues Maeve Royce and Adele Dinerstein. 

Chris has a B.M. in Contemporary Writing and Production from the Berklee College of Music, and earned a credential in teaching music from California State Dominguez Hills. He received Kodály Certification from Colorado State University. Chris and fellow music department member Yazmine Fleming are the parents of a Park student in the Class of 2030.
