Chris Peterson
Lower, Middle, and Upper School Music and Director of After-School MusicChris teaches music in all three divisions.
Classes include Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten music, fifth grade jazz band, guitar and ukulele in Middle and Upper School, 8th Grade Modern Music Band and Lab Band, improvisation for instrumentalists, and playing and writing about music in Upper School.
Chris is experienced in playing guitar, tenor banjo, and mandolin. He has recently played with The New World Symphony, The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, The Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Hotel Paradise Orchestra, and the Baltimore Mandolin Orchestra. After college, he worked as a music copyist for the film music industry (The Simpsons, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, among others).
In 2020, Chris presented “The Process Based Jazz Program” at the Jazz Education Network with Park colleagues Maeve Royce and Adele Dinerstein.
Chris has a B.M. in Contemporary Writing and Production from the Berklee College of Music, and earned a credential in teaching music from California State University. He received a Kodály Certification from Colorado State University. Chris and fellow music department member Yazmine Fleming are the parents of a Park student in the Class of 2030.
