Alexander McNulty
Upper School PhysicsAlex teaches Upper School science, focusing on physics in Core 9 classes as well as electives, including Biophysics, Waves, and Mechanics. Alex coaches Varsity track in the spring and is involved in several other Upper School clubs.
Most recently, Alex tutored high school students in physics and math and was a research assistant in the Department of Physics at the University at Buffalo. Alex received a B.S. in Biology and Physics (double major) with a minor in Math and an M.S. in Biophysics, both from the University at Buffalo. While there, he was a Division I college athlete in both football and track and field, playing kicker on the football team and throwing javelin for track and field, and would help coach other athletes during his free time.Ā
Alex has presented at conferences all over the country for the American Physical Society ā an organization that advances physics by fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and global community dedicated to science and society.
Some of his presentations include:
- Intramolecular Structural Vibrations of Triose Phosphate Isomerase. (APS March 2023, Contributed Talk, Las Vegas, NV.)
- Simplifying Protein Collective Vibrational Assignment Through Symmetry. (APS March 2022, Contributed Talk, Chicago IL.)
- Crystal Symmetry Effects on Protein Anisotropic Absorption. (APS March 2022, Contributed Talk, Chicago IL.)
- The Structural Vibrations and Function Dynamics of TIM and Their Hydration Dependence. (Masters Thesis Defense, Dec 13, 2013, Buffalo, NY.)
