James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone’s favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece. The story follows a slew of storybook characters – a Baker and his wife, Cinderella, Jack, etc. – who venture into the unknown to achieve their wishes. However, the real-world consequences of their actions return to haunt them in a dramatic tonal twist. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching.

WINTER!

8th Grade Production:When Bad Things Happen to Good Actors

by Ian McWethy and Jason Pizzarello

When a simple one act school production of  “The Wizard of Oz” gets derailed by missed cues, a renegade sound operator, embarrassing parents, and a fire alarm with a mind of its own, the magic of live theater turns into a hilarious challenge.  But our intrepid actors keep right on muscling through.  After all: “The Show Must Go On!”  That is, until it really, really, REALLY can’t! And then it gets even funnier.

SPRING!

11/12 Production: Twelfth Night

By William Shakespeare

Shipwrecked in a foreign land, Viola makes a daring decision to conceal her womanhood and serve the local Duke Orsino as his male servant. Yet, as she dutifully woos the haughty Countess Olivia in his stead, Viola finds herself falling for her new boss! Throw in drunk uncles, puritanical butlers, and wise-cracking fools, and you get all the entanglement and entertainment of a classic Shakespearean comedic romp. And yet, are pranks ever really innocent? Is love anything but lust? Party with us in musical, mischievous Illyria this spring as identities, status, and even gender are turned upside-down with a deftness and complexity that sets Twelfth Night apart from other comedies.

Tickets are $15.

Friday, April 10 – 7 p.m.

Saturday, April 11 – 2 p.m. & 7 p.m.

Sunday, April 12 – 2 p.m.

19/10 Production: Ring Round the Moon

By Jean Anouilh, adapted by Christopher Fry

The poor, beautiful dancer Isabelle has come to a high-society ball at the invitation of charming scoundrel Hugo, who disdains love in all forms. He has brought her to break up the engagement of his lovesick identical twin brother Fredrick. However, Isabelle must hide her identity (and melodramatic mother) to blend in with the blundering, wealthy socialites, while Hugo’s cousin, Lady India, scrambles to conceal her affair with the family secretary! In this messy confection of mistaken identities and heartbreak schemes, Ring Round the Moon turns the Cinderella trope inside-out to mock romance and elitism with wit and sympathy.
