Nick Reeder
Upper School HistoryNick teaches history part-time in the Upper School, utilizing an interdisciplinary approach that incorporates the social sciences, literature, cultural studies, and the arts.
Nick has taught at both the secondary and university levels. He is an experienced youth and high school lacrosse coach and also has a teaching background in audio engineering and outdoor education. Prior to coming to Park, Nick taught at James Hubert Blake High School in Olney, Maryland, and spent six years as a substitute teacher at Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, Maryland, where he was also a JV lacrosse coach.
Nick holds a B.A. in History and English/American Literature, an M.A. in Ethnomusicology, and a Ph.D. in Music, all from Brown University. He also holds a Certificate in Recording Arts and Technology from the California Recording Institute.
Nick collaborated with other scholars to write a chapter about the history of music technology: 2021, Dahlie, Christopher, Johannes Mulder, Sergio Pisfil, and Nicholas Clark Reeder. 2021. ‘Live Sound Matters.’ in Christopher J. Anderson and Sergio Pisfil (eds.), Researching Live Music: Gigs, Tours, Concerts and Festivals (Routledge: London). He has presented his research at conferences, including the Society for Ethnomusicology and the International Association for the Study of Popular Music.
