Dan Schochor

Associate Head of School for Finance and Operations

As Associate Head of School for Finance and Operations, Dan is responsible for all matters associated with budgeting and finance, and the smooth operation of all facilities, and maintenance of campus grounds.

After graduating from college, Dan devoted his professional life to education. He has been a teacher in an independent school; principal and executive director of two Baltimore City public charter schools; and an executive at a non-profit organization focused on civic engagement and development in Baltimore. “These stops along the way have given me a broad exposure to schools — academics, operations, finances, school culture — and I’ve been fortunate to experience these foundational elements from a variety of perspectives.”

While Executive Director and President of Green Street Academy, a Grades 6–12 public charter school in West Baltimore, Dan was instrumental in establishing one of the most innovative and exciting public school models in the country. During his tenure, he expanded the program to include new career, technology, and education options, a student-run farm that is a model for urban farming and aquaculture, and a fully funded internship program that places more than 250 students in paid internships. He also led the school’s successful efforts to complete a $20 million renovation of its historic building, recognized as the second largest LEED Platinum building in the world.

Dan earned a B.A. in Education and History from Brown University, and an M.Ed. and Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, both from The Pennsylvania State University. He is the parent of two Park School students in the Classes of 2031 and 2034.

Dan has published articles in a number of educational journals, and has presented conference papers in the U.S. and Canada. He has run workshops and spoken at numerous educational leadership meetings, and has been involved in planning and implementing conferences for the Pennsylvania State Law and Education Institute and the Annual Values and Educational Leadership Conferences in State College, Pa., and Victoria, B.C.
