Carrie Vaughn
Middle School ScienceCarrie teaches 6th Grade science, which focuses on earth and environmental science. She is a member of the Faculty Council.
Carrie came to Park from Blue School (a small, progressive independent school) in New York City where she designed and taught Integrated Studies, a combined social studies and science class for 6th, 7th, and 8th Grades. She also taught at Brooklyn New School (P.S. 146), serving as the sustainability educator for Pre-K through 1st Grade.
Carrie’s additional teaching experiences include working in outdoor, environmental, and garden education with NYC Audubon, NYU Hudson River Education and Stewardship Program, and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. This work involved monitoring horseshoe crabs and shorebirds, beach clean-ups, water testing on the Hudson and East Rivers, and maintaining a vegetable garden with kids. She has worked with students four years old through high school. She was also an adjunct faculty member at New York University (Integrated Curricula in Science, Health, and Mathematics in Childhood Education) and Pace University (Social Responsibility and the World of Nature).
Carrie earned a B.A. in Anthropology from Smith College, an M.A. in Environmental Conservation Education from New York University, and an M.F.A. in Poetry at Oregon State University. She loves books, dogs, and camping.
