Sidney BridgesUpper School English
Sidney is on the English faculty in the Upper School. Before moving to Baltimore, he taught English at Brooklyn Friends School, served as Department Chair, and for a time was Head of the Upper School.
He had previously taught at Friends Academy in Locust Valley, N.Y. Sidney served two terms as a member of the Board of Directors of Friends’ Council on Education, and participated in various NYSAIS (New York State Association of Independent Schools) accreditation committees. He volunteered annually to support the recruitment, retention, and growth of faculty of color in independent schools.
He enjoys travel, reading, theater, linguistic study, black and white photography, nature walks, visiting art museums, experimental cooking, teaching and playing tennis, and biking.
Sidney holds a B.A. in Psychology from Williams College, an M.A. in English from Middlebury College, and an Ed.M. in Educational Administration and Interdisciplinary Studies from Columbia University’s Teachers College.Back to Faculty & Staff Directory
