Melanie Weiskopf ’15
Upper School HistoryMelanie teaches three sections of Modern World History II, as well as the Current Events and Civics electives in the Upper School history department.
She began her teaching career during summer breaks from college working as the Director of Cornerstone Summer Institute, a summer program that educates high school students about slavery and its legacies in Charlottesville, Virginia. Upon graduation, she moved to Dorset in the United Kingdom to complete a fellowship at Bryanston School. There, she was a resident in a boarding house, a cross-country coach, public-speaking mentor, book club leader, and teacher of geography, philosophy, and international politics.
Back in the United States, Melanie taught geography, US history, and current events at Oldfields School in Maryland. All of her courses emphasized individualized creative research.
A graduate of Park’s Class of 2015, Melanie holds a B.A. in Political and Social Thought from the University of Virginia, graduating with High Distinction. She was awarded the Royster Lawton Fellow of Social Enterprise while there, and the Hardy Teaching Fellowship at Bryanston School after graduation.
