Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! by Lower School Librarian Laura Schlitz won the 2008 Newbery Medal.

Laura's new book, The Night Fairy, was released February 23. Contact the library to purchase a copy of The Night Fairy and Laura's other books, Good Masters! Sweet Ladies!, A Drowned Maiden's Hair, The Hero Schliemann, and The Bear Skinner. Laura will be happy to autograph her books. The Night Fairy has earned a starred book review in Booklist, and Amazon has named it one of its Best Books of February 2010. Librarian and author Twig C. George's book, Pocket Guide to the Outdoors was released October, 2009. The guide is a companion to My Side of the Mountain by Twig's mother Jean Craighead George. Contact the library to purchase a copy of Pocket Guide to the Outdoors and Twig's other books, including A Dolphin Named Bob, Seahorses, and Jellies. Twig will be happy to autograph her books.

The library is proud to host the annual Gordon Berman '68 Memorial Lower School Resident Author program which introduces authors and illustrators to our Kindergarten through Fifth Grades. Award-winning writer and illustrator Jerry Pinkney will visit April 6, 2010 as our 26th Resident Author. Pinkney has just won the 2010 Caldecott Medal for The Lion and the Mouse. The Caldecott is awarded yearly to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children.
